Satellite internet can be slow due to the time it takes to transmit a signal from your dish to the satellite and back down again. Likewise, cable and DSL can be slow during “internet peak hours” when many users are logged on at once.

With satellite, downtime can occur at any time due to inclement weather conditions. And, because larger internet providers (cable and DSL) have so many customers, they can’t possibly monitor all their customers at once, and troubleshooting usually means calling a remote call center somewhere not in Texas.

Because cable and DSL rely on old, buried lines, their network connection is less reliable than what it can be with fixed wireless. Satellite frequently has weather related issues, as well.
